On the Move

Zane has had a big week this week.  We just got over 2 really bad weeks of being sick.  It seems like when he is sick he stops doing new things but is still learning them.  So when he actually feels better he does 3 or 4 new things all in one day.

He had a really bad cold that was followed with what the doctors think was Croup.  After 2 weeks of breathing treatments every 4 hours, some steroids, and amoxicilin Zane is finally well.  He has a few new tricks:

  • He is now on the move.  He is officially crawling.  He does not move on his hands and knees yet, but he is trying.  It is more like a seal move.  He inches his way across the room on his tummy.  The quickest we have seen him move is toward the stereo which is at the bottom of our entertainment center.  He loves the buttons and loves to turn the volume way up.  (John put a cover in front of it now.)
  • His favorite new word “Blah, Blah, Blah” and that is exactly what it sounds like.  When I picked him up from April’s the other day her little boy (2 year old) was Blahing back at him.
  • He can now feed himself. He likes to lay in his boppy and hold his bottle.  He is very independent.  He also fed himself in the car yesterday for the first time.
  • He is now eating baby food.  We have good days and bad days.  He can sometimes eat half of one container and half of another in one feeding.  We use to only get 2 or 3 bites down him before the screaming started.  Favorite foods so far:  Peas, Bananas, and Squash. He does not like Sweet Potatoes.
  • And we have our first new tux that he gets to wear in 2 week.  Aunt Leetle found it for Zane and thought that he had to have it for her wedding.  Keep your eye out for new pictures of Snazzy Zane.

We also went to the Pumpkin Patch  this past week.  Zane did not like sitting in the dead grass especially after he tasted the grass and it was gross.  He did however enjoy sitting in the wagon with a pumpkin.

This was Zane’s first bite of bananas.  It doesn’t look like he likes them, but he actually does!

Big 6 Months!!

Our lives have changed so much over the last 6 months!!  Here are some of the things Zane has been up to…

  • He can sit up for long periods of time.
  • He thinks it is funny when he falls over!
  • He loves to talk.
  • For the last week Zane has slept through the night with some help of Zyrtec. (He has had a cold.)
  • He can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy.
  • He constantly giggles at his Mommy and Daddy.
  • He loves to hold onto and shake his rattles.
  • He is sitting in a highchair for long periods of time.
  • He is going to Bible class and enjoys it.
  • He can sit in the grocery cart.
  • He can swing at the park.
  • He can sit up in the bathtub.
  • He has made a new friend with Cocoa and Cocoa kind of enjoys it.  We started making an “awww” noise when Zane pets Cocoa and now Zane makes the same noise when he pets him.
  • He can move pretty far from one place to another.
  • And last of all he is getting up on all fours.  He is trying to crawl, but is having trouble getting to together.  It will be very soon!

It has been such a fun 6 months.  People say that it goes by so fast.  John and I have decided that is not quiet true.  We think that just so much changes in a short period of time.  There is not a time in our lives that we remember more details than the last 6 months!  Enjoy the pictures! And don’t miss the videos at the end.Helping Dad put my new toy together.1.jpgMy friend Cocoa2.jpgI’m not up to anything.3.jpgAren’t my new PJs cute!4.jpgI love to play in the bathtub.5.jpgHappy boy!6.jpgPlaying at the park7.jpg8.jpgI like to eat my toes!9.jpgSleepy boy!img_0631.JPG

Busy Busy!!

So John and I have been incredibly busy.  School has started and that also means that John’s football season has started.  Many of our days are consisting of getting up around 5:30 in the morning and not getting home until at least 5 or 6.  Then neither on of us have a the energy to cook dinner so we either order take out or go get something to eat.  Which means we are usually not home to 7 or 8.

Zane is doing so well.  He had a hard time transitioning in the beginning, but things are getting a lot better. He loves to go to Mrs. April’s house.  He smiles when he sees her in the mornings.  It is very sweet.  We also get very big smiles when John and I are finally at home with him at night.  He loves for it to be just the family.

We have a few new tricks.  Zane loves to roll from his back to his front.  He is so proud of himself when he does it.  I have been trying so hard at night to keep him on his back and I finally gave up this week.  I went into his bedroom when he was fussing the other night.  He rolled to his stomach and I rolled his back.  We did this 4 times and I finally gave into him.  He has started sitting up for a little longer.  He can kind of sit in a highchair but does not like to for long period of times.  He is starting to like to play peek-a-boo.  And he has now upgraded from cereal to oatmeal.  He likes it so much better.  So here are some pictures of my precious little boy!

We made a trip to Houston a few weeks ago for Labor day.  We had a blast getting to see family.

Here is Dane, Aidan, and Zane playing together.

These are all of GG’s (John’s grandmother) great grandsons.  She does not have any great granddaughters, but there is one more boy coming in a few months.

Zane is not too sure about the highchair yet.  He will only stay in it for a few minutes.

And finally…

My big boy is already over 5 months old.  This was taken on his 5 month birthday.

We are planning to take Zane to the park soon since it is starting to cool down.  Be watching for his first trip to the swings!

Also on another note, keep John’s sister Mandy and her family in your prayers.  They live in Spring which is on the north side of Houston.  They had a tree fall on their house and their car during the storm.  It is going to be a long process getting it all cleaned up.  Thankfully though with all the family we have in Houston, everyone was safe and unharmed.  Thank you for your prayers.

Our Crazy Lives

I know I haven’t posted in a while. Most of you know this is a crazy part of the year for our family. Of course things have gotten even more complicated with Zane this year. John has started his busy football season. He has been out of town a lot. And I have started back at school now. The kids will start on Monday. If you think about it Monday morning say a little prayer for all of the teachers out there.

Other than being busy, we are all doing really well. Zane has learned a few new tricks and also has had a few doctor appointments. Let’s start with the tricks. Zane can now sit up by himself. Not for a long period of time, but he can do it. He is so proud of himself. Here is a picture of him sitting up after a bath.

He has also been trying really hard to roll over from his back to his tummy. The other morning he woke up at 4:30 to play. John left him in bed because he was happy. He finally went back to sleep. This is how we found him a few hours later.

He also went to April’s house for the first time this week. This is our babysitter. She is one of our good friends and she keeps 2 of our other friends’ kids. Zane is going to have so much fun!! Here he is at his first day.

This is Zane’s first souvineer that John brought back to him from Kentucky.

He has also started to really enjoy his cereal.

Now to the doctor appointments. We have decided that we think Zane has reflux. For those of you who have kids with this, you know it is miserable. Zane has been very fussy. Monday John took him in and we got some medicine. Things have gotten better, but I don’t think it is completely gone. We might end up calling the doctor back, but we will give it a few more days.

We also went to the Cardiologist this week. Zane loved all of the new toys that got attached to him.

Good news… The heart murmur is an innocent murmur and we do not even need a follow up appointment for it.

So there is our last couple of weeks! I hope you enjoyed!
